Case Study: Pool Quote

Client Testimonial -

"They are quick. They understood our language and what our goal was. I didn't know how to get to the goal. I just knew that we had one. They did everything in the middle. I had a problem. They solved it!"

Challenge

The owners of Pool Quote had some serious problems when it came to the estimation process of their business. They were using a dated system dependent on EXCEL files and a tremendous amount of manual work. They knew that in order to streamline their business processes they needed to create their own web app. Programmatis was able to understand the problem in its entirety.

Pre-Project Consulting

Pool Quote selected Programmatis as their consulting partner during the project's discovery phase prior to development. We collaborated together on establishing a set of Minimum Viable Product (MVP) features for the solution which would subsequently become a formal Software Requirements Specification (SRS). Our goal was to explore the user experiences together before beginning development and find what makes the most sense for their initial offering. After consulting at length, we determined the solution would be best as a multi-tenant SaaS offering. In doing so we knew the owners of Pool Quote could both leverage the solution for their own pool construction business as well as offer it publicly to other businesses like theirs.

Development

Upon completion of our pre-project consulting time together, the Pool Quote team selected Programmatis as their development partner for creating their MVP. This development contract was framed around the same SRS generated together during consulting. After having completed blueprinting of the concept together, they felt felt comfortable with our industry knowledge and software development ability. Thus, we were selected to develop the SaaS web app known as Pool Quote.
Like with all software development creations, we discovered a number of ways to enhance the system design along the way that increased it's scalability and use cases. In the end, we were able to develop a state of the art enterprise solution which radically reduces labor cost involved in the pool estimation process for its users.

Technology

For the development of Pool Quote, we focused on making the solution scalable, flexible, and easy to use. This led us to developing the platform as a Progressive Web App, leveraging native mobile functionality alongside the power of a cloud based web app. In order to reach market in under 6 months, we integrated the system with 3rd party vendors for web hosting, payment gateway, and more.

Web Hosting: InMotion Hosting

Technology Challenges

One of the most challenging things about developing Pool Quote's web app was accommodating the many pivots that were made to the concept during development. Developing a successful SaaS web app is all about making a solution that people want to use. In order to accomplish this, you need user feedback. So many of the web app's features weren't developed until after the MVP was launched and users were able to provide their feedback. Knowing this would be the case in advance, we were challenged to develop the app in a scalable, flexible way that would allow use to easily add and change it's features.

The Outcome

What Pool Quote received was an app that can help designers price projects in 10 minutes with little to no training. Prior to the application's development, the process to train someone in pricing projects would take 5-6 months. As a result of the new application, that process is streamlined so that Pool Quote is able to scale their design & sales teams.
