Case Study: Engayge App
Project Summary
A social networking firm employed Programmatis to create a web application. After an initial consultation, the team proceeded to generate wireframes and specification documents. They then utilized this information to create a functional minimum viable product (MVP) of the application.
Background
Jamie Gagnier & Maryellen “Rudy” Founds are the Co-founders of Engayge, a social networking webapp for the Queer community. The two major functions at its MVP phase are Friend-Finding and through our proprietary algorithm, a Queer Yelp.
Unique Challenge
The primary challenge of building the app for Programmatis was to develop a progressive web application (PWA) that facilitated the easy discovery of like-minded members of the LGBTQ+ community in a particular location or while traveling. Additionally, the team had to integrate the client's proprietary algorithm into the review and rating system they created. This would enable the community to generate a fluid database of queer-friendly businesses, organizations, service providers, and events.
The Approach
After an extensive search using multiple search engines and focusing on Clutch-certified developers, Programmatis was selected as the development partner for the project. The client had several conversations with the team to get to know them as developers, individuals, and their approach to client relationships. The client felt confident that Programmatis was the right team for the project, and their decision was validated by the final product.
The project started with a consulting phase where Programmatis developed wireframes and an SRS document. The team then utilized this information to create an MVP version of the web application using a sandbox development approach that allowed for continuous feedback and updates. The client worked with several members of the Programmatis team throughout the project, starting with a project manager during the SRS and blueprint gathering stage, but primarily working with Joe, the owner of Programmatis, during the development phase. However, the developers and UI/UX designers were also present on the weekly update calls.
Outcome
Development began in mid-February with the goal of launching the web application by June, in time for Pride month. The client was committed to this timeline and the Programmatis team made a full effort to ensure that they delivered a product that would meet their expectations. Programmatis demonstrated exceptional speed, efficiency, and agility in developing a bespoke web application. These values have been consistently upheld throughout the entire duration of the project.
